With food prices going up, why not grow your own super nutritious, flavorful food? Or, if you’ve just moved to the Southwest New Mexico desert and want to start gardening, there are unique challenges you will likely encounter — and useful hacks for growing in this climate.

This introductory course will help you get started — from understanding your unique site, to building soil, finding resources, and knowing what, when, and how to plant. You will leave with more confidence and knowledge on how to plan and prepare your spot for a successful growing season.

This class will be followed by additional presentations that will reinforce and build upon what you learn, taking you forward into this season while building a foundation for good gardening in the years to come.

About Your Instructor Caroline Metzler is a lifelong gardener who received her permaculture design certification from University of Colorado San Miguel in 2012. She has expanded into the study of regenerative agriculture in the last decade, applying these principles in her Arenas Valley food forest, regenerating soil locally for the last five years.
