Thanks to everyone who attended our very first gardening class on the 8th. Whew, that was a concentrated dose of information! And now, as promised, we’re moving into the fun, hands on workshops that are the how-to of applying healthy practices in our gardens.
On April 22nd we’ll meet again at The Future Forge for a potting party! Bart Hiatt and Caroline Metzler will be showing several types of starting pots, both purchased and home-made. We’ll enjoy crafting small pots as we hold a round table discussion on soil and potting soil mixtures, seeds, and growing your own seedlings for later transplanting.
Provided will be a selection of seeds from the Silver City Seed Library. You’re also welcome to bring your own small pots, soil, and seeds for your starts. Everyone will end up with planted pots to take home, where you can watch over them and enjoy the emergence of green over the coming days.
Please bring: gloves, a trowel, and any of your own seeds, soil, or pots if desired.
Follow-up workshops will include lasagna bed construction and a session on successful transplanting.
We hope you’ll join us at The Forge on April 22, 11:00 am-1:00-ish pm for this fun activity. Bart and Caroline will be there until 3:00 pm for further activities and questions.
As usual this workshop will be by donation so that all who wish can attend.
